A new dredge has arrived in Ruse: the project consultant is Avto Engineering Holding Group
Avto Engineering Holding Group was selected by the Dutch company Damen Shipyard Gorinchem as a consultant for the implementation of its project in Bulgaria. The significant experience of Avto Engineering in the implementation of complex projects and the delivery of all kinds of specialized vehicles was the main reason for the Dutch shipbuilding giant to chose for a partnership the Bulgarian company.
Damen Shipyards Group is a globally operating company with more than 50 shipyards, repair yards and affiliates - as well as a number of partner yards that can build Damen ships locally. Since 1969, it has designed and built over 5,000 ships and supplies up to 150 ships a year. With over 30 shipyards and affiliated companies worldwide, Damen is involved in shipbuilding as well as maintenance and repair activities. It has a wide product range, including tugs, work boats, patrol vessels, cargo ships, dredges, mega yachts and fast ferries.
The Ambassador of the Netherlands in Bulgaria HE Beat Tan Tusher gave the official name of the new dredging facility of the Executive Agency for Research and Maintenance of the Danube River at a ceremony today in Ruse. She wished for a fair wind and smashed a bottle of champagne in the Yantra's hull.
"The Danube River is the only natural European road, the highway that connects many nations. The fact that after many years of stagnation the state began to invest and focused on the cities along the Danube, means a lot" said Deputy Mayor of Ruse Dimitar Nedev. According to him, this is a step forward in many aspects for the Danube city, especially in economic terms.
Among the special guests were the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Nelly Andreeva, the Head of the Managing Authority of OP "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" Galina Vasileva, the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Zlatomira Stefanova, the Deputy Regional Governors Sinan Hebibov and Stefka Karakoleva, Stefan Stout from "Damen Shipard Gorinchem", where the dredge was built, as well as the executive director of the Executive Agency for Research and Maintenance of the river, Eng. Pavlin Tsonev.
The Yantra dredge is the first specialized ship of its kind to enter the Danube Agency's assets, and the new dredging equipment will enable the Agency to fulfill its vessel maintenance obligations efficiently and on time. The aim is to preserve the design depths of the river according to the recommendations of the Danube Commission.
The Executive Director of IAPPD Eng. Pavlin Tsonev stressed that with the successful implementation of projects under the operational programs in the Transport Sector and the Connecting Europe Facility in recent years attracted over BGN 35mln, thanks to which the Agency has updated its technical capacity. "Through this, we can be worthy partners of other river administrations in fulfilling the international obligation to maintain the 471-kilometer section of the Danube, which is one of the most difficult in terms of shipping," Tsonev added.
A solemn water dedication and consecration of the new vessel was made by Father Jordan from the Church of St. George. The cheerful ensemble "Extreme" led by Veronika Milanova and the folk dance studio "Zora" at the Municipal Youth Home took care of the good mood of the guests.
