The Bulgarian system Shumcar™ - "Ambulance" in case of fires
Nearly a year ago, in the middle of the hot summer of 2020, we traveled across the Danube plain. Somewhere off the road, we noticed heavy smoke - apparently from a fire, but in a hard-to-reach place that could only be reached quickly by helicopter. We called 112 and the firefighters had to leave in a heavy specialized car, which was slowly passing on the 3rd class roads to reach the already growing fire.
Very often burning forests, stubbles and fields are difficult to access and by the time the fire trucks arrive, the fire has already passed the phase in which it can be extinguished quickly and with minimal damage. In addition to the direct loss of green mass or harvest, extinguishing already widespread fires often involves a huge human and financial resources.
Little is known about the fact that there is a Bulgarian innovation system for extinguishing fires in hard to reach areas.
"Our development allows to extinguish a forest fire in 40 to 60 minutes," added the engineer.
4 out of a total of 6 state forestries are already equipped with Shumcar™ with the total number of sold units above 100.
Shumcar™ is practically an ambulance in case of fires. The system is designed for initial extinguishing of class A fires, i.e. solid burning and smoldering substances. According to a construction originally developed by the specialists of Avto Engineering Holding Group, the system can be adapted for installation to all brands of light trucks, pickup trucks, vans, trucks. The capacity of the tank allows a continuous supply of water and foam for 30 minutes. The pump operates under ultra-high pressure and the jet reaches 17 meters.
It is mounted on rails so that it can be removed during non-active use. Thus, the vehicle on which it is mounted is not engaged all the time with this system, and its owner can use it for other purposes.
Thus, if a nature park, forestry or agricultural producer has Shumcar™, it will not be necessary to wait and rely for each fire only on the fire service. Often large specialized vehicles cannot reach hard-to-reach areas and have to be extinguished manually, rely on clearings, wait for a helicopter or simply let the fire die down. On the one hand, the rapid reduction of damage, on the other - heavier equipment requires more costs. As a conclusion - this is all that is needed for a quick and adequate response to fires. And there are such every year - whether intentional or accidental, there is no way to stop them, but we can limit the damages they cause.
"The system is flexible and multifunctional," says the entrepreneur Julian Dimov, the holding's owner.
He added that in addition to extinguishing fires, it could be quickly and easily used for disinfection, as happened during the most serious phases of Covid-19 pandemic.
"The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency praised the quality of the system, and acquired Shumcar™ for this purpose" Dimov added.
